Description

In Beyond Surrealism Six leading international artists will engage in conversation with Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen's world-renowned surrealism collection: Kerstin Brätsch, Monster Chetwynd, Laure Prouvost, Tai Shani, Emma Talbot, and Raphaela Vogel. Their work offers a contemporary response to an artistic movement that for over a century has invited us to look beyond the logical or the mundane.

In visually striking installations and sculptures, some created specifically for the exhibition, these artists demonstrate how imagination, dreams, and the irrational still offer relevant ways to stretch reality and view it with new eyes. Surrealism lives on and remains a constant source of inspiration.

The colorful catalog, designed by Hansje van Halem, is published bilingually (Dutch/English). It includes an in-depth essay by curator Saskia van Kampen-Prein, a poem by Ester Naomi Perquin, and photographs of the exhibition in the Depot of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen.

Please note: This is a pre-order. The catalog will be available from December 16, 2025.
