Description

This catalogue raisonné was published to coincide with a travelling retrospective exhibition.

For two decades now, Marijke van Warmerdam has been creating unforgettable images. We know them as film loops, as photographs and as sculptures. We have seen them at the Venice Biennale, at Art Unlimited in Basel, and in many exhibitions and museums of contemporary and modern art all over the world.

The forthcoming retrospective of Marijke van Warmerdam in the autumn of 2011 prompted Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen to publish a comprehensive monograph in English. The book includes an ambitiously designed catalogue raisonné, in which all her work is described and illustrated for the first time. Contributions by authors from the Netherlands, France, Switzerland and Scotland give an extensive and nuanced view of Van Warmerdam’s extraordinarily multi-faceted oeuvre. Biographical and bibliographical overviews and a broad selection of illustrations of the work complete the picture.
