A retrospective of Villevoye's work incorporating photographs, video stills and installation works. Beginning in the early 1990s, this publication throws light on the artist's approach, which is based on a search for a form of authenticity. He sees this as a basic human quality. His works contain elements drawn from repeated visits to Papua New Guinea and explore colonial history, visual culture and the confusions and fascinations that underlie interactions when cultures meet. Illustrated throughout with full-page colour photographs and video stills, the publication includes several essays.
